About Erin

As a medical illustrator by day, painting is a potent outlet for my creativity and self expression beyond my daily work as an artist of precision.  My current series of detailed floral stills has me traveling around the community finding fleeting moments of beauty to capture and recreate in my studio.  I study each shape and then recreate the texture of each petal, and attempt to capture the full range of detail available in the light that blankets each organic fold.  The tedious process and attention to the most minor changes in gradients is a focused practice of mindfulness that offers me a strong sense of centering and relief of stress.  I'm not sure which I enjoy more, mixing oil colors into a soft palette of possibility, or painting each tiny shape and blending them together in such a way that nothing is disregarded.
